The Opportunity
Nutanix is combining its industry-leading software-defined storage technologies with open-source Cloud Native storage solutions to build the best-in-breed data management service for stateful containerized applications. We are seeking a Staff Engineer to join our NDK team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our cloud-native storage solutions. The NDK (Nutanix Data Kubernetes) represents a significant milestone for Nutanix, providing critical data management capabilities for stateful containerized applications in a hybrid/multi-cloud environment.
We are searching for a highly skilled Staff Engineer with 12+ years of experience building and shipping production-grade services. You possess a deep understanding of distributed systems development and architecting, with the ability to design tradeoffs for building clustered, high-performance, fault-tolerant systems. Your passion for innovation is evident in your entrepreneurial spirit, taking ownership of features from conception to completion while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
You will join an impactful, fast-moving cloud native storage team. You will be required to deliver features end to end while mentoring a team of 3–4 engineers. Ensuring the right performance, scale and availability will be one of the top priorities of the role.
Engineering / R&D at Nutanix
Develop a good understanding of Cloud Native Storage technologies, including Disaster Recovery and Backup.
Software feature and unit test development for storage and data protection solutions for containerized applications.
Setup and deploy complex stateful application and data management solutions in a containerized environment.
Collaborate with the geo-distributed team to own and deliver projects end-to-end with high quality and predictability.
Strong Distributed Systems development and architecting skills.
Design tradeoffs in building clustered, high-performance, fault-tolerant distributed systems software.
Entrepreneurial spirit - ability to start, execute, finish and own the feature while maintaining a high-quality bar.
Your Role

What You Will Bring
BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
12+ years experience of building and shipping production-grade services.
Knowledge of building micro-service-based applications.
Hands-on development in at least one of the programming languages: Golang, Python, Java/C++ Strong development experience on Linux/Unix OS platform
Hands-on experience working with version control / DevOps tools – Git, Gerrit, or Jenkins
Good to Have
Working knowledge of Data Protection technologies like Disaster Recovery and Backup.
Experience developing software for containerized platforms like Kubernetes.
Experience with working with applications within hyperscalers including AWS, Azure or GCP.
Good understanding of Kubernetes Custom Resource and controller development.
